Mumbai: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Tata Motors have entered a five-year strategic collaboration under the TCS Tata Motors Sustainability Partnership to strengthen the automaker’s sustainability roadmap using AI-driven technology.

The partnership integrates TCS’s Intelligent Urban Exchange (IUX) with Tata Motors’ Prakriti platform, enabling data-driven ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) reporting, regulatory compliance automation, and actionable sustainability insights across manufacturing plants and the wider value chain.

AI-Powered ESG Platform to Enhance Sustainability Tracking

Through this TCS Tata Motors Sustainability Partnership, Tata Motors is leveraging the AI-enabled IUX platform to digitize sustainability data, ensuring real-time monitoring and advanced analytics.

The integration helps drive measurable environmental impact and supports Tata Motors’ ambitious goals of achieving net-zero emissions – by 2040 for passenger vehicles and 2045 for commercial vehicles.

The Prakriti platform, co-developed with input from Tata Motors’ sustainability experts, provides comprehensive tools for carbon accounting, circularity, biodiversity preservation, and compliance management. It replaces traditional manual processes with a unified digital sustainability system.

Rajesh Kannan, CEO of Tata Motors Digital.AI Labs Ltd., added that this collaboration creates a “digital sustainability spine” aligned with SEBI’s BRSR guidelines. “This empowers us to manage sustainability with transparency, data integrity, and AI-driven insights,” he stated.

According to TCS, the Intelligent Urban Exchange™ (IUX) platform offers industry-specific configurability to meet automotive sustainability requirements. It facilitates data integration across suppliers, employees, and dealers – helping Tata Motors extend sustainability accountability throughout its ecosystem.

The AI/ML-powered Prakriti platform enables comprehensive sustainability monitoring and performance benchmarking across tier 1, 2, and 3 supplier networks.

Ashvini Saxena, VP and Head, Digital Software & Solutions, TCS, explained that IUX leverages AI and GenAI to transform sustainability operations in three areas – accelerating net-zero journeys, maintaining carbon value chain integrity, and reducing climate risk through biodiversity and “Carbon for Good” initiatives.
